Doctor and Research Company Dismiss Trio of Copyright Suits

Earlier this year, we reported on three separate copyright cases filed by MMAS Research LLC ("MMAS") and Dr. Donald E. Morisky ("Morisky") (MMAS and Morisky jointly "Plaintiffs"). The cases alleged similar facts, essentially that an educational institution infringed on the Plaintiffs' right in a medical diagnostic tool called the Morisky Medical Adherence Scale (the "Scale").

The first case was filed on March 24, 2021, against Duke University and various defendants. For details on this case, please see our April 5, 2021, post. On July 20, 2021, the Plaintiffs filed a Notice of Dismissal for this case.

The second case was filed on April 12, 2021, against the University of Massachusetts and various defendants. For details on this case, please see our April 26, 2021, post. On August 31, 2021, the Plaintiffs filed a Notice of Dismissal for this case.

Finally, the last case was filed on May 10, 2021, against the University of Edinburgh and a researcher. For details on this case, please see our June 21, 2021, post. On November 8, 2021, the Plaintiffs likewise filed a Notice of Dismissal for this case.
