College Application Consulting Business Accused of Infringement

A College Admissions Consultant Company Alleges That Another Consultant Company Infringed on Its Content

On May 22, 2021, Ivy Coach, Inc. ("Ivy") filed a lawsuit against Lehren Education, Inc. ("Lehren"). Both companies assist and guide prospective university and college students in their application process.

In its complaint, Ivy accuses Lehren of copying “significant portions of Ivy Coach’s content from a page explaining the benefits of using an admissions consultant.” You can compare portions of Ivy's website (page 4) to Lehren's website (page 6-7) in the complaint.

On August 16, 2020, Ivy purportedly sent a cease and desist letter to Lehren informing the company of the alleged infringement and demanded the removal of the material in addition to payment of $75,000. In the complaint, Ivy claims that Lehren did not respond to the letter.

Through its complaint, Ivy is seeking, among other things, an injunction and monetary damages. We will provide updates as they become available.
