Settle in for Three Settlements
Fotohaus, LLC v. The University of Chicago's Institute for Translational Medicine
We previously reported on November 20, 2023, that The University of Chicago's ITM had allegedly used a picture, owned by Fotohaus, on two separate pages of their website without getting permission. Before The University of Chicago could file an answer, Fotohaus filed a Stipulation of Dismissal on February 8, 2024, informing the court that the parties had reached a settlement.
John Fielding v. The University of Chicago
Earlier this year on February 21, we reported that The University of Chicago had also allegedly used Fielding's photos to advertise or promote their programs. Not long after The University of Chicago answered the allegation, it appears the parties were able to discuss the issue privately and reach a settlement, as Fielding filed a Stipulation of Dismissal on February 26, 2024.
Mando Morlos v. St. Francis High School - Salesian College Preparatory
In non-University of Chicago news, it appears we can finally close the case between photographer Mando Morlos and St. Francis High School. We originally reported about the case on April 1, 2024, when photographer Morlos filed a Complaint against St. Francis for the school's use of hundreds of photos Morlos had taken. Our last update was posted on August 5, 2024, after St. Francis filed a Motion to Dismiss. We can now report that the parties were able to reach an agreement privately, and on October 10, 2024, Morlos filed a Stipulation of Dismissal on behalf of both parties.
