University of Miami Sued Over Professor PowerPoint Presentation
To say that university professors regularly give presentations at conferences would be an understatement. It's an indispensable part of what they do. But when Dr. Kysha Harriell, Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Director of Athletic Training at the University of Miami, gave a PowerPoint presentation at a 2017 conference organized by the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association (SEATA), she may have landed herself, her employer and the conference organizers in legal hot water.

Scholarly Publishing Giants File Infringement Suit against ResearchGate
Publishers Elsevier and the American Chemical Society have alleged that the popular academic networking site, ResearchGate, has committed copyright infringement by sharing copyrighted research papers with their users, according to an article at www.sciencemag.org. ResearchGate claims more than 13 million users who can use personal pages to upload and share material including published papers or book chapters. These uploads, now comprising millions of works, are usually only accessible by paid subscription.
